Exciting News!
First is the news that Beth's book is officially published and all those who want to buy a copy can buy one at her first book signing on Dec. 3 and 4! I already have mine though because I wrote a thingie for the back of her book and her book is...amazing! I loved it! Everyone needs to buy it and read it!
Second I have reached the fiftieth page of my book, The Bloody Diamond, and it is turning out superb! I am so thankful and glad that I finally decided to write on a deeper level. Thank you, Beth! Also for my book - though I had to change the chapters somewhat because they were too long, so now the first chapter was split into two and thus I am working on my fourth chapter instead of my second. I like it, though, and I still think the chapters make sense so it should all work out in the end. :)

Short Story 1
I crept slowly through the halls, my ears perked to catch any noise that might flutter through the cracks. This would be our first and only chance to escape. Mistakes were prohibited as they would cost us our lives.
I reached the edge of the hallway and slowly edged my left eye over the edge so I could see. Down the hall, about ten strides away was the first obstacle, our hallway night guard. The guard himself was not the danger as the night guard was actually very friendly, telling us stories and encouraging us on when we felt like we could not stumble another inch. The threat was posed by, as we prisoners had come to call it, the Deadly Shock. One shock from this stick and the victim would be knocked out cold for a week and each time after, the worst it felt and the longer the recovery time. I knew the guard would want anything but to shock us but if we were caught, the night guard would not have a choice. The bearers of the Shock Stick were cursed so they had to use it. If not, the bearers would be shocked themselves and that was not a price anyone was willing to pay.
I though how to disarm the guard the without shocking myself and that was why it was my duty to clear the first obstacle. I had been born with great telepathic abilities and though I had never let any of the “others” know, now was the time to use them for a greater purpose than staying out of the “others” way.
The “others” were the ones who kept us prisoners in the great block of stone. They were not human and we knew this because we had seen and experience more than a normal teenager should. Their disguise was perfect and almost flawless but we had discovered how to see through it. The thing underneath was a horrendous, beautiful creature that made us yearn to flee and at the same time run and bow to its glory. Thus, as we did not know what they were, and as torn as we were to give them a matching name, we couldn't so we called them, the “others.”
The shift in light attracted my attention and I noticed that the guard had completed the round and was starting back again. I reached into my duffel bag and silently pulled out the rope. I carefully unwound it and focused on breathing in and out. I could not let my jitters stop me from completing the task at hand. The guard was four strides away, three, two, and one. It was now or never. Risk my life for freedom or live the life of a Guinea pig. I chose freedom.
I lunged forward and I saw the guard’s face light up with shock and surprise. Immediately the Shock Stick lurched towards me but I dodged and concentrated and it flew out of the night guards hand and down the hall straight into the bag another prisoner was holding open. I could not focus on that though as the guard was flinging another punch at my face.
I lifted my hand and froze the night guard and the guard’s eyes went wide. Then I carefully raised my hand towards the ceiling. The guard went to speak but before a word was stuttered I slammed the guard into the concrete floor. The guard was immediately knocked unconscious and I apologized as I tied up the guard saying, “Nothing personal, but we have to escape. I'm sure you would do the same if you were in our position.” With that I motioned to the other girls and boys waiting in the dorms and they jogged quickly out. They stood behind me and as one, our eyes began to glow showing the power contained within us.
The “others” would be sorry they ever kidnapped us and today was the day we strove for our freedom. Today we would use our abilities and fight till the end. I lifted my arm, let it hang and then swung it down and we charged towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

First Chapter!!!!
I am going to begin writing my second chapter after I finish a A.P. biology paper so everyone wish me luck with that. I don't have any idea how long the second chapter is going to be but I am calling it, I Attend My First Day of School. Or at least, that what is it for now; I may change it. I'll find the perfect title soon. :)
