An Update

Well... where do I even start? First, it is Christmas break, and Christmas is right around the corner! I hope everyone remembers that this is not a day for just gifts but for giving and remembering the greatest gift of all: JESUS.
Now to info on my book. It is going superb! I am writing chapter five right now, and I think that it is going to be my favorite chapter for a while, at least until I write another cool chapter. I don't know exactly how to explain my thoughts, but sometimes I feel like the book is writing itself. I mean, I will plan to write one thing but when I sit down to write it, something entirely different and better comes out. It's just simply amazing, and I love everything I have written. and if I don't love it, then I take it out. Just like I did with a few pages yesterday. They no longer fit well with the story so I deleted them and now it is like they were never there.
Oh also, I plan to put a little snippet of the book on the blog. I am not sure which section yet but I promise you guys that it will be up soon. Also no news really from my aunt except I am suppose to talk to her this week. Keep your fingers crossed. :D Merry Christmas!

A Long Time

Wow... I have not realized how long it has been since my last post. Let's just sya I have been extremely busy with school and sports. That doesn't mean I haven't written anything though as the story is coming a long great! I will write some more things about this in a later post but just wanted to let everyone know I had not forgotten about it! :D

Exciting News!

OMG! There is so much to talk about!
First is the news that Beth's book is officially published and all those who want to buy a copy can buy one at her first book signing on Dec. 3 and 4! I already have mine though because I wrote a thingie for the back of her book and her book is...amazing! I loved it! Everyone needs to buy it and read it!
Second I have reached the fiftieth page of my book, The Bloody Diamond, and it is turning out superb! I am so thankful and glad that I finally decided to write on a deeper level. Thank you, Beth! Also for my book - though I had to change the chapters somewhat because they were too long, so now the first chapter was split into two and thus I am working on my fourth chapter instead of my second. I like it, though, and I still think the chapters make sense so it should all work out in the end. :)

It was so good though because we finished with a bang! Here are the simple results.
Brittany got third overall!
My time was 13.39!
Overall the girls got 4th!!!
Overall the boys got 6th!!!
Marcus earned the new school cc record!!!
Such a great meet and I was so blessed to be apart of such a wodnerful team!

Celebration!

Okay, so first off, this post has nothing to do with me. Instead it deals with my BFF, the author Elizabeth McKinney. As everyone should know her first book is coming out in October, and she has been working hard on the next books. Well.... she has finished book three! Apparently this is supposed to be her favorite book and I can't wait to read it! Of course, I have to read book one and two, but oh well. I'll read it eventually! Congratulations again, Beth!

Great Day!

Okay, so there are many things that I want to talk about.
First, this morning I ran a 13.42 at my cross country meet. That is my best time this year, and I know I can go even faster. What is truly amazing is I knew God was with me during this meet because Tuesday, I ran a 13.42 during my own practice meet. Then I wrote that time on my hand, and that is the time I earned during the meet! YES!!! :D I am back to where I was last year.

Ok, now for the other good news. I am finally finding the time to write some more! I don't know how to explain it, maybe Beth understands, but when you are writing, you just get so into it. The words seem to flow from your fingers, and you get so excited about writing the part you at because you want to see the end. I am seriously smiling with excitement as I write some of my favorite parts, yearning to see the final piece. I absolutely love writing, and I am so glad I had begun writing Bloody Diamond. I had tried before but now it's official and it is simply superb. I can't wait until the next chapters!!!! :D :D :D

Frustration

Uhh, I am so frustrated because of—you know what—school! So many projects and tests and homework is taking up my time, and thus I cannot write anything. I so want to though; my fingers are itching to write, and the story is unfolding within my mind, yearning to be typed out and saved. I can't wait for the weekend because then I will finally have the time I seek. I have so many ideas and plots that need to be written before I change them again, and I want to see where my story is taking me because so far it has been an amazing ride. Just pray the weekend gets here quickly!

I Am So Happy!

Ok, so there are many things I need to write down in this one blog. First off, my Cross Country meet went well, as I finished 64 out of 188 girls, and placed second on our team with a time of 14:30. Next week I plan to cut off 30 seconds! :)

Now to the another exciting piece of information: my aunt and I were finally able to chat! She had found some grammars errors, which I immediately changed, and then she told me about the few areas that were written in a slightly confusing manner. Now I am going back to those spots to fix them and make sure my readers do not get confused! :D She also told me she really liked where I was going with my story so far and she can't wait for me to send her the next pages! I am so happy! :D :D :D

Oh, and also, Beth's book is being printed!!!! I can hardly believe it but it is actually happening and will be available in four weeks! I can't wait to get my own copy!

Short Story 1

Okay so here is one of my favorite short stories I wrote. It is not polished yet but that will come with time. Enjoy!

The Beginning of the Escape

I crept slowly through the halls, my ears perked to catch any noise that might flutter through the cracks. This would be our first and only chance to escape. Mistakes were prohibited as they would cost us our lives.

I reached the edge of the hallway and slowly edged my left eye over the edge so I could see. Down the hall, about ten strides away was the first obstacle, our hallway night guard. The guard himself was not the danger as the night guard was actually very friendly, telling us stories and encouraging us on when we felt like we could not stumble another inch. The threat was posed by, as we prisoners had come to call it, the Deadly Shock. One shock from this stick and the victim would be knocked out cold for a week and each time after, the worst it felt and the longer the recovery time. I knew the guard would want anything but to shock us but if we were caught, the night guard would not have a choice. The bearers of the Shock Stick were cursed so they had to use it. If not, the bearers would be shocked themselves and that was not a price anyone was willing to pay.

I though how to disarm the guard the without shocking myself and that was why it was my duty to clear the first obstacle. I had been born with great telepathic abilities and though I had never let any of the “others” know, now was the time to use them for a greater purpose than staying out of the “others” way.

The “others” were the ones who kept us prisoners in the great block of stone. They were not human and we knew this because we had seen and experience more than a normal teenager should. Their disguise was perfect and almost flawless but we had discovered how to see through it. The thing underneath was a horrendous, beautiful creature that made us yearn to flee and at the same time run and bow to its glory. Thus, as we did not know what they were, and as torn as we were to give them a matching name, we couldn't so we called them, the “others.”

The shift in light attracted my attention and I noticed that the guard had completed the round and was starting back again. I reached into my duffel bag and silently pulled out the rope. I carefully unwound it and focused on breathing in and out. I could not let my jitters stop me from completing the task at hand. The guard was four strides away, three, two, and one. It was now or never. Risk my life for freedom or live the life of a Guinea pig. I chose freedom.

I lunged forward and I saw the guard’s face light up with shock and surprise. Immediately the Shock Stick lurched towards me but I dodged and concentrated and it flew out of the night guards hand and down the hall straight into the bag another prisoner was holding open. I could not focus on that though as the guard was flinging another punch at my face.

I lifted my hand and froze the night guard and the guard’s eyes went wide. Then I carefully raised my hand towards the ceiling. The guard went to speak but before a word was stuttered I slammed the guard into the concrete floor. The guard was immediately knocked unconscious and I apologized as I tied up the guard saying, “Nothing personal, but we have to escape. I'm sure you would do the same if you were in our position.” With that I motioned to the other girls and boys waiting in the dorms and they jogged quickly out. They stood behind me and as one, our eyes began to glow showing the power contained within us.

The “others” would be sorry they ever kidnapped us and today was the day we strove for our freedom. Today we would use our abilities and fight till the end. I lifted my arm, let it hang and then swung it down and we charged towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

Nothing but Work

Okay, so first off, there has been nothing from my aunt but is anyone really surprised? Raise your hand if you are. I know I'm not because I was kind of expecting this again. I just have to be patient and I believe my patience has increased. :) Also, school has been going on for four weeks now and it is difficult. I was warned before school started, but now I know that they meant it when they said junior year is the hardest! Ugh. A.P. Biology and A.P. English and Pre-Calculus. Not fun. Oh, well; I shall survive and make all A's as usually! :D
Oh, also, I have written a little more on The Bloody Diamond but as I have not reached a computer long enough for something besides homework I have taken up writing short stories to pass the time at school. Maybe I will put one of them on here...we will see...

Happy Day!

Okay I have great news! Besides school starting and being swamped with homework... ugh. not pleasant. But aside from that! My aunt has finally replied and we are about to get serious. I will not write what she think of my first ten pages because I have sent her the next ones and she is reading those tonight! I promise tho to share some of her opinions and the obvious one is she liked what she read! :D I am so happy and I just know The Bloody Diamond will turn out great! So yeah until my next post.... keep reading and writing!

Disappointment and Joy

Well, I have some good and some bad news. I guess I will write the bad news first so at the end of this post, I won't be more disappointed.
Okay, so basically, my aunt has not gotten back to me about my book. She was supposed to read it last weekend and tell me what she thought, but she has not even replied to the text I sent her yesterday. My mom thinks she is ignoring me because she hasn't read it and doesn't want to face me... :( It looks like I won't be able to count on her editing it so it just means I'll keep writing. Nothing wrong with that of course! :)
And now to the good news! Beth's cover for her book, Young Falcon, looks great! I cannot believe how close she is to getting her book officially published!!! I am so excited and can't wait to read the entire thing. I've read tidbits but I need the whole book to be satisfied. ;) As soon as her cover has its copyright, I am thinking of placing it on my blog so anyone who is keeping track of my blog can see it! It looks really great and remembering how far Beth has gone makes me want to keep writing!
So, yeah, that's my news for today :D

First Chapter!!!!

I have officially completed the first chapter of The Bloody Diamond!!!! It is called, I Arrive For My School Orientation, and it is 26 pages. I love every bit of it and I hope all my my editing friends/family like it too! Still no word from my aunt but it is not Tuesday yet so I haven't lost hope.
I am going to begin writing my second chapter after I finish a A.P. biology paper so everyone wish me luck with that. I don't have any idea how long the second chapter is going to be but I am calling it, I Attend My First Day of School. Or at least, that what is it for now; I may change it. I'll find the perfect title soon. :)

Waiting

So, yeah, a few days have now passed, and there is still no word from my aunt. I'm not surprised though as Beth has warned me it usually takes a while for anyone to read what you've written and actually reply. I know my aunt is taking her time and thinking everything through, so I am perfectly fine with waiting a few extra days. It is the final outcome that is important, anyway, and to get there, patience is necessary. I look forward to the day when my aunt calls and hearing everything she has to say!

Details ... Details ... Details

The Bloody Diamond is going well, though I have not written anything today I am planning the parts that are to come. To keep all the little details straight though so I can remember them when the time comes to apply them in The Bloody Diamond, I have grabbed a journal. I grabbed this idea from J.K Rowling who has all the details and secrets that are not in the HP books in her journals. I truly liked the idea and thus I have begun my own and so far have found it extremely helpful. I also have to admit that I get so excited about writing my book each time I think of the next details and write them in my journal. :D

My Aunt the Editor

Ok, so now that I have figured out more about how to even get to my blog, I am ready to start reporting. :) First off, my aunt has finally replied. She has been very busy and is not able to check her email very often but now she has and today will begin reading the first ten pages I sent her. My aunt may not be an official editor but the last time she read the beginning pages she was a huge help. She is a huge reader that takes the time to analyze the lines and think things through. She doesn't just read to see how quickly she can get through like my brother does. Sorry, bro, but it's true! So, yeah, my aunt said she would call me today or tomorrow and I can't wait! I hope she likes it! *crosses fingers*

Finally

Okay, so I have finally created a blog, and I don't know what to write. I'm still writing my book, The Bloody Diamond, so all you who know about it and like the idea...wait until I can figure out how to do this blog stuff. Then you can enjoy more of my book. Thanks! :) Wish me luck!
